The fanos Light Children Support Inc. is established with the main purpose of supporting children and youth education. Our vision is to see a generation equipped with proper training, and values with a purpose contribute to a community, to society, or a country he/she is a part of. We believe that can be achieved by providing children and youth to have access to resources, tools, and all other educational materials and by providing the support these children and youth need that would support them succeed in their studies and other endeavors.
TFLCS Inc. was founded in Feb 2019 after we complete the project that we have been working on for four years. We have been working on a project called a journey back to Sedika from Winnipeg since August 2015. The project was designed to support children and youth education in Sedika, a small town In Ethiopia. We are grateful to so many people who were involved in this project and for what we were able to accomplish through this project. We were able to provide all school supplies and other educational aid materials, including uniforms for 115 Sedika Elementary Students. Also, we were able to build a learning center that would be used by both teachers and students in that school. We have provided computers and various types of books and other educational aid materials for these children to have access to.
We are so grateful for what we were able to accomplish through this project, and we acknowledge and appreciate all the people who supported our project, people who work so hard with dedication for the project’s objective to be accomplished. Therefore, I want to take this opportunity again to extend my thanks and appreciation to all people both In Ethiopia and here in Canada who supported this project, and work so hard for the realization of this project, special thanks to Serge Alemu, and Beruk Gemechu from Ethiops, and to Dinu Rajapakse and Sheila Le, and to all the volunteers who work so hard with us on this project from Canada. I know mentioning names will not be fair for there are so many people who supported us in this work. I want you to know all your support, your effort, and your contribution are important and made a difference.
Our journey to get to this point has not been that easy for there were a lot of challenges and obstacles, but we believe we did our best with what we have because we believe there is so much need and we believe there is something we can do to fulfill those needs. We understand there is so much need in our world at this very moment, but we believe the need to support children and youth education is more important. We believe that all children have potential and talent. We believe they can learn, grow and become successful in their studies and in their life if they are provided the conducive environment that facilitates learning and growth, the tools, the resources, and the educational aid materials they need. The learning opportunity they need that would help them succeed, and all the support they need in their learning and growth.
That is why we designed and launched an afterschool program here In Winnipeg, Canada. Through this program, we are providing space for these children and youth to come in, we also provide various resources and told, such as computers, books, school supplies, and tools that facilitate their learning. Through this program, we provide various services, such as tutoring, mentoring, and programs related to their interest inclination. We designed programs like reading, art, design science, and other program based on the interest of these children. We know that this is a huge task, work that requires a lot of resources, commitment, and dedication, but we believe with time and with diligent work we would be there because we have the desire and a passion to support these children and youth.
We know there are so many needs in other places as well. We know that there is so many need around the world, so many needs, the need to have a proper meal, the need to have a place to say and be safe, the need to have access to water and shelter, the need to live in peace, the need to have access to equitable and quality of education. We believe education is a very vital important need for it has the power to change or solve many of the problems and needs we face. There are millions and millions of children who do not have access to education, access to proper education, access to equity, and quality of education. That is why we are here to work hard with what we have to bring a difference in children’s and youth’s education.
We believe with a bit of compassion, sacrifice, dedication, and responsibility we can bring a difference in children’s and youth’s education. The question that we need to ask is what can I do, what is my contribution to bringing the difference for every effort, and what contribution that was made with the above principles would bring the difference.
